It is very rare that one gets to meet and interact with people of similar interests! I recently went for a fashion meetup in Bangalore, at a very beautiful cafe and met amazing some really talented fashion enthusiasts & entrepreneurs!
Through a Fashion Meetup, I met Sonali Sarkar, an ex HR person, and a full-time Jewellery Designer.
It takes a lot of passion and courage to quit a well-settled work environment and move into a completely new arena of following your dreams. In India we have seen many start-ups that have been started by highly educated individuals who believe in doing something out of their interest and passion!
Her speciality includes bohemian feather jewellery, with lots of florals & feathers specifically designed for the youth!

Tell us about your background?
I am a Bengali, born and brought up in Gujarat. I did my post-graduation in Human Resources, and was employed in a firm. After travelling to various cities like Calcutta & Delhi, finally settling in Bangalore, I wished to do something else, that interested me, and I was passionate about. I learnt jewellery designing in Class 10 through a hobby course, and ever since I have been in love with the idea of it! It gives me a sense of satisfaction and happiness. So I decided to venture into it.
How & When did you start Cupkin?
Cupkin was started almost 1.5 years back, in Bangalore. I do not have a private store, but I deal through Facebook & Instagram. I started jewellery making with delicate neck-pieces, charm bracelets; and some really unique stuff like toechains, haathphool and tiara’s. Now after a time-period I have started making statement pieces, earrings, body chainsand head chains.
Who is your Target Audience?
My jewellery pieces range from Rs. 50 to Rs. 1000, and i target the youth and young adults. I have taken part in many exhibitions, and jewellery workshops; and have been a part of Sunday Soul Sante Bangalore (A Flea Market) since 2014. It has been an amazing experience!
